Nemo Showroom Opening. A Ron Gilad project

Nemo Lighting unveiled its new showroom in the heart of Milan, designed by Ron Gilad. Conceived not as a linear retail experience but as a spatial field, the showroom functions as a field of light, an amalgamation of the existing space in Via Santa Cecilia and Nemo’s identity.

The space does not aim to present the technical aspects of light, but focuses on its essence: the ability to live with it. Lamps become architectural subjects: they shape space, reveal movement, and accompany visitors beyond the strict boundaries of opening hours, giving the possibility for passers-by to interact with the light behind the glass vitrines.

“The project is shaped by years of observation, reflection, and practice. Ideas emerge intuitively, guided by common sense and filtered through a personal – occasionally eccentric – lens. They are allowed to flow freely, without the need to construct a grand narrative. What remains is a simple position: I do not write stories. I design.”

Light and lamps, hung on canvases, standing as sculptures in the space, or appearing on video screens, transform the design object into an artistic subject, and the principle of art into a functional design element. The artistic motif unfolds between the two floors of the showroom, presenting known masterpieces in a different light.

The opening welcomed design professionals, architects and visitors from all over the world into an immersive environment where light becomes a living material, something to inhabit rather than a technical feature to display.

The showroom is now a permanent place of encounter and exploration.
